Why You Should Stop Annoying Wedding Planners

leads sales Feb 11, 2020

Growing revenue is a (partly) numbers game. The more leads you get the more likely you are to hit your goals.

But it’s not that simple.

Think of all those people looking around your website. You probably have a ton every year who drop by, browse for a bit, and then take off (because you don’t have any content on your site to engage them, but that’s a different issue and I digress…).

So you spend all your time doing what all the others do who complain about how crowded the marketplace is. You post more on IG. Yeah, good luck with that.

Get better leads

Posting a lot on IG may grow your following amongst industry pros, but are they actively buying from you? And are they really your best buyers?

I’m not dogging IG. Well, maybe a little. But what I want to get across is that’s the most crowded marketplace you can find.

No, the place you want to sell your services is through word-of-mouth.

Recommendations pave the path to success

Referrals are the most common way people CHOOSE their wedding vendors.

While I could write on and on and on about how to get more referrals from wedding planners I’m not going to go into that here.

Why?

Because – like IG – everyone’s playing that game and the field is crowded. Besides, most of you aren’t getting referrals from planners making recommendations to their full-service clients.

(BTW, I’ve got a ton of photography clients who charge upwards of $4-6k who have less than 10% of their bookings through full-service planners. They may have partial or month-of planners on the wedding day, but not when clients are choosing photographers.)

Instead, enlist your absolute, 100% biggest fans

Your current clients are the single best source for more bookings this year. Period.

Their family and friends are talking with them 24/7 about the wedding, and if you can give them something to talk about then you’ll make an appearance in the stories.

So what are you doing to stand out as THE person creating wow moments?

Legit question: What are you doing?

Next week I’ll share some specifics on inspiring current clients to get the word out about you.
