Quiz: What Style of Learner are You?

Uncategorized Oct 22, 2019

It’s not easy to get better. I’m serious. You have to admit you don’t know everything. Then you have to ask for help. But don’t take it from anyone, because you have to find a great teacher who knows how to get you where you want to go.

Even after you do all these things, the likelihood you’ll do little to nothing good for your business is still high.

We’ve all done it. We make the commitment to spend the money and time, but it doesn’t work as well as we hope.

Why?

Maybe because you’re not learning through the right medium.

Take this simple quiz to see how you learn best:

When I want recommendations for a vacation I usually

a)     Scroll through IG or online to find destinations

b)    Talk to friends and family about where they love to go

c)     Think back to past trips and try to recreate what I loved about it

My favorite teachers in school

a)     Let me explore ideas and opportunities on my own

b)    Made sure I was paying attention and kept me on track

c)     Created a fun learning environment in the class

I prefer to

a)     Read books about business

b)    Listen to podcasts about business

c)     Learn on the job

When confronted with a big challenge I

a)     Get excited

b)    Find information from experts online or in books

c)     Reach out for help from friends or colleagues

If I get a big idea the first thing I do is

a)     Chew on it and get it right before sharing with others

b)    Find a trusted friend and ask for their opinion

c)     Talk with someone who can help me shape the idea to make it better

If you answered (A) to most questions, you’d likely do well with online courses to get better. You’re a visual learner who likes independence. You thrive working by yourself and can count on completing things without someone holding you accountable. You don’t process verbally so just need quiet and time to work through things.

If you answered (B) to most questions, you’d likely do well with coaching or mentoring. You learn by listening and following a step-by-step guide. You appreciate working with others, but prefer to work directly with an expert instead of in a group. It’s important to discover the information you need through a process so you can apply to all areas.

If you answered (C) to most questions, you’d likely do well with a workshop. You learn by doing and actively participating. You like groups because you 1+1=3. If you have the chance to collaborate, you’re likely to come up with something better than if you worked through it on your own.

Most of us can learn in different ways, but we all have a preferred method. Before you choose what you’re going to better yourself, be sure to pick the right way to learn, not just the topic and the teacher.
